Legal services

This can be a tricky area for all first time buyers, so we have put together the following information to help you.

When buying a property you will need to appoint a solicitor, ensure that you ask the solicitor to provide you with a breakdown of the legal fees before you give the go-ahead to begin. You can read more about appointing a solicitor.

Usually your estate agents will recommend a solicitor but many recommend that first time buyers find their own solicitor. This is a fair straight forward task of phoning and explaining your situation. Solicitors work with first time buyers all of the time and they will happily explain the procedure to you. Remember to ask about their fees though. We recommend that all first time buyers phone at least 3 solicitors before choosing one.

To start looking for a solicitor your best source is probably the Yellow Pages or Yell.com. Yell.com is very easy to use and will help first time buyers locate solicitors in their local area.
